It’s been a while since I have blogged anything. I’ve been busy putting down hardwood flooring in my house. Yipee! We finished this past weekend. Now I’ll be able to get back to my photography. OK. After I get a new desk and get organized.
I will be going to the Washington Photo Safari’s “Fall Colors in Shenandoah National Park” on October 18. I’m very excited about it. It’s an all day photo session. I’m hoping to get a lot of great pictures that I will be able to post.
I am currently taking a class at the Laurel Annex on Photoshop Layers. It started off a little slow, but it got better towards the end of the night. I’m looking forward to next Monday night’s class.
I have been thinking about taking my infrared camera out to a grave yard to see if I can get some creepy pictures for Halloween. Anybody else doing this and posted their pictures? Send us a link!

Last March we were driving around Virginia near the Dulles Airport. The far outreaches of the airport. Near the farms and woods. And a wild turkey flew in front of the car out of nowhere. A wild turkey! What a big giant bird. Or at least that’s what we thought at the time.
A few miles down the road we come across a cattle farm. No big deal and nothing strange. Right? Wrong. There was an ostrich and an emu in with the cows in the pasture. Could you imagine what a cowstrich would look like?
So we got out of the car and took pictures. The birds were pretty close to the fence and the cows were a little further into the pasture. Once we got several pictures of the birds they started walking away. So we tried to call them back. Instead the cows started running towards us. Thank goodness that there was a fence between us and the cows. And as we walked down the fence, the cows followed us. We must have smelled like hay or grass or whatever cows eat.
Anyway, I haven’t worked on those pictures yet. But I should be doing that soon. So keep an eye out for your local cowstrich.

Last week I went to the Redskins Rides car show that the Washington Redskins and Eastern Motors sponsors. They had antique cars, custom cars and the players brought their cars. It was great.
I have posted my new images on my new site. Look on the Gallery page for “Redskins Rides Car Show“.

It’s a beautiful summer night in the suburbs of DC and I can finally annouce that I have a new Gallery site. I only have 3 galleries uploaded so far, but I will be adding more. The most recent photos are the “Western MD Horses” gallery. I went on a Washington Photo Safari and got some great images.
The new site name is www.riesphotography.com. I still have my blog at www.ries-photography.com. I know, it’s just a hyphen difference between the two websites.
Thanks and have a great evening.

I have started putting my images up on Zazzle. I have created magnets, posters, cards and postage stamps out of my images. They are all reasonably priced. If you have a picture that you like and it’s not on my Zazzle site, just email me and I can put it up there.
I will be putting some new images up on the websites soon, so make sure to keep looking.
