About Ries Photography
Ries Photography is about imagination. What can you see through a camera lense? How can you manipulate that into something that brings emotion to a viewer?
Ries Photography is about sharing and community. Sharing ideas on the Photography Blog and seeing what other people are talking about with their visions.
So please take a look and let us know what you think. Post a comment to a blog or send us an email at photo@ries-photography.com. All ideas are welcome.
About Mary Ries, Photographer
I am a photographer who works with several different subject matters: nature, macro and abstract art. I have worked both in film and digital photography, but prefer digital. I love that I can change the images completely to a different form using Photoshop or other programs. I think it allows for more artistic freedom. At least it is for me.
I’m based out of the Washington, DC area. I grew up here and love the city and surrounding areas. There is so much to see and do, that photography just becomes part of it for me. There are some of the most beautiful natural areas in and around DC.
I am currently trying to show more of my work in different places. I have shown my art at XT Art Gallery in Union Station, Neb’s Cafe, Riverdale Park Farmer’s Market and Doctor’s Hospital. I have also had private sales to professional offices. My work was in the juried vendor shows for the Junior League of Washington and The National Cathedral’s 69th Annual Flower Mart. I’m always trying to find new venues.
For me, photography is a learning process that I don’t want to stop. I want to continue to grow and to see and hear about new things.
